World Book Day 1999

‘Book your escape’, the strap line for 1999’s World Book Day campaigns portrayed reading as an exciting escape from whatever you’re doing.

We showed people doing everyday things, working, travelling, having a hair cut, and less ordinary things, ballet dancing, snowboarding and scuba diving. In each and every case they were diverted by a big bright book.

The campaign was a great success, with many more people escaping into another world through books.
