  • Crossrail given Royal Assent »

The official go-ahead for Crossrail marks a defining moment in transport history and a proud moment for Hoop, having worked to help Crossrail reach this goal over the last six years.

The announcement that Crossrail has been given Royal Assent, signals the go ahead to build this cross London railway.

It has taken nearly 20 years, hundreds of submission documents, a huge public consultation exercise and immeasurable goodwill to get this far.

The construction phase, which is about to begin, is set to cost £16bn with train services to be up and running by 2017. In many ways and areas the challenges have only just begun but at this point we think its time to celebrate the true start of Crossrail, a world-class UK railway.

  • Loving the numbers »

66% increase in applications to Notting Hill Housing since the launch of the Love Where You Work brand in May

    Not bad going

Online applications have jumped from 45% to 70% in just 2 months. And overall applications to this very dynamic housing business are up 10% on this time last year.

    Attracting talent

It’s very early days but we’re pretty chuffed with performance like that. We think it proves the case that a stand out employer brand really does make a difference in the talent stakes.

    Performance

Our client seems pretty chuffed too. She summed up positive early figures with the simple exclamation ‘crikey!’.

    Crikey indeed.

  • We’re hiring - again! »

If not you, someone you know would love to work here.

Our office manager Peni is moving back to …. Fiji! Not that we’re envious or anything, what with the great summer we’re having.

But it does mean we’re going to be one person light, and we need a well organised, good humoured sort to fill his shoes. Check out the job spec here.

  • Midnight’s Children is best of Booker »

Hoop play their small part in the selection of Salman Rushdie’s novel as part of Booker 40 celebrations.

A small but vital role. Working with our friends at Colman Getty we created and ran the online voting mechanism and more importantly designed the fantastic trophy.

    Find it on YouTube.

  • User eXperience Branding »

UxB is a common sense approach to brand strategy for the digital era. It's power is explosive if unleashed the right way, or can have a negative effect on your business if ignored.

    Looking beyond the downturn

We've noticed an upturn in activity recently. More organisations are asking us to help them think through what happens next. What should they be prioritising? Where to invest first? How to make sense of the shifting sands of digital media?

    Fresh thinking required

Times have changed and now your brand belongs to customers and staff. Our UXB service helps reveal their needs and desires and build new propositions around deep, evidence based insights. UXB is about adding value across your whole organisation and engaging in new relationships with key customers and influencers.

    Adapt your approach

We have developed UXB to address the most pressing issues that businesses bring to us to think about. It's a response to the rapidly changing commercial, media and workplace environments. It's finely tuned, adaptive and helps leaders, senior marketers and entrepreneurs adjust their mindset to see that business as usual is a thing of the past.

    Think like a customer

UXB is a fusion of user centred thinking, user experience design and brand communications that can radically improve your brand reputation and business performance. It's also a complete no brainer if you want to flourish in the digital era and deliver measurable RoI for your organisation.

    21st century solution

UXB is right for our times. Because in a networked age where the internet creates or kills success at break neck speed, customer advocacy is everything. If you don't deliver your promise to staff, customers, partners and other stakeholders, your brand suffers and your advertising and media spend are wasted.

    Act now

We all know that in the the good times, many businesses overlooked the cracks in their organisation. If, like many of your competitors, you are beginning to think beyond the now and prepare for the future, we should have a no obligation chat.

    Next steps

To discuss how user centred thinking can transform the performance of your business please contact us in confidence in the way that best suits you. We'd love to hear from you.

  • Open standards 1, walled gardens 0. »

Europe’s decision to maintain the development of open standards has enraged the protectionist US software industry.

The move is going to cause a rumpus as US software houses see open standards as direct threat to their existence. And they are right. But hey, get with the times guys.

The decision throws the difference between old tech and the new web into sharp relief. Which would you prefer - being locked into a big vendor’s proprietory systems for ever, or be free to move from one system to the next knowing that each one will work together?

We’re delighted that Europe is going this way. We’re passionate subscribers to the Web Standards project and welcome the day that everything just works becuase we all use the same, optimised, open source code.
